Greek Gala


Greek Council and The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life annually hosts an award ceremony in the Spring to honor and recognize the contributions of individuals and chapters that have gone above and beyond in their fraternal commitment. The Greek Gala Awards banquet recognizes excellence in leadership, philanthropy, community service and academic achievement within the UCF fraternity and sorority community for the past calendar year. Organizational Awards

Academic Excellence Award 

The Academic Excellence Award is awarded to the chapter that has excelled in maintaining academic success, degree progression, and promoting career readiness to all members of their chapter. One winner will be selected from Standards of Excellence submissions in the Academic Excellence category. This award is not available for nomination.

Campus Collaborator of the Year 

This award is established to recognize and honor a fraternity or sorority that set forth a campus program or initiative that collaborated with another chapter or registered student organization (RSO) to benefit the community. It also stands to honor outreach and inclusion with other organizations on campus.

One chapter will be chosen based on the following criteria:

  • Impact of the event on attendees
  • Number of collaborators
  • Complexity of event
  • Impact on UCF’s community
Campus Partner of the Year

This award recognizes an outstanding campus partner that has demonstrated excellence in partnering with a fraternity or sorority to provide support and/or opportunities for students to engage in and learn from the community.

Chapter of Excellence 

Chapter of Excellence is awarded to chapters with the highest score in the Standards of Excellence evaluation. One winner will be selected from each council. This award is not available for nomination.

Chapter Progress Award 

Chapter Progress Award is given to the chapter with the greatest percent of change in their 2024 Standards of Excellence score from their 2023 submission. One winner will be selected from the community. This award is not available for nomination.

Chapter of the Year 

Chapter of the Year is awarded to the chapter with the highest Standards of Excellence score of all chapters. One winner will be selected from the community. This award is not available for nomination.

Health, Safety, and Wellness Award 

The Health and Safety Award is given to the chapter that has excelled in its harm reduction practices, preventative education, and wellness programming. One winner will be selected from Standards of Excellence submissions in the Health and Safety category. This award is not available for nomination.

Highest GPA 2024

Highest GPA is awarded to the chapter with the highest average GPA in 2024. One winner will be selected from the community. This award is not available for nomination.

Inclusive Excellence Award 

The Inclusive Sibilingood Award is given to the chapter that has excelled in fostering a welcoming environment for all members, creating a sense of belonging, and providing support for their members. One winner will be selected from Standards of Excellence submissions in the Inclusive Siblinghood category. This award is not available for nomination.

Leadership Development Award 

The Leadership Development Award is awarded to the chapter that excels in its leadership development programming. One winner will be selected from Standards of Excellence submissions in the Leadership Development category. This award is not available for nomination.

National Organization of the Year 

This award recognizes an outstanding inter/national headquarters that has demonstrated excellence in partnering with their local chapter and with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life to provide support and/or opportunities for students to engage in and learn from their inter/national headquarters. One winner will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Collaboration between inter/national headquarters and chapter
  • Collaboration between inter/national headquarters and OFSL
  • Collaboration had an impact on the local chapter
Positive Relationships Award

Positive Relationships Award is designated for the chapter that has excelled in its relationships with multiple stakeholders. This includes relationships between advisors, headquarters, councils, alumni or graduate chapters, UCF administration, or any other stakeholder. One winner will be selected from Standards of Excellence submissions in the Positive Stakeholder Relationships category. This award is not available for nomination.

Social and Cultural Impact Award 

Social and Cultural Impact Award is given to the chapter that has excelled in their education, awareness, and fundraising towards their philanthropy. This award also considers the chapter’s community service accomplishments from the previous year. One winner will be selected from Standards of Excellence submissions in the Social and Cultural Impact category. This award is not available for nomination.


Individual Awards

Alumni Exemplar 

This award seeks to recognize a UCF fraternity or sorority alumni who exemplifies the mission and values of their organization, contributes significantly to the success of the local chapter, and serves as an excellent role model for their chapter. One winner will be selected from the following criteria:

  • Displays organizational values
  • Made contributions to chapter’s success
  • Is a role model for all members
Chapter President of the Year

The Chapter President of the Year Award seeks to recognize a chapter president who exemplifies the mission, values, and purpose of their chapter. This award shall go to the chapter president who has improved chapter morale, chapter operations, and has made a significant difference in their chapter through their leadership during their term. 

One winner will be chosen based on the following criteria: 

  • Positive relationship with multiple stakeholders (i.e. OFSL, (inter)national organizations, advisors, council, and members)
  • Exemplifies their inter(national) organization’s values and holds others accountable to those values
  • Inspired and motivated other members to grow and accomplish their goals
Charles and Francis Millican Memorial Award – Excellence in Community Service

This award is given to a member who has gone above and beyond in community service to the UCF and/or Greater Orlando area. Each sorority or fraternity may nominate one member of their own chapter or from another chapter. One winner will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Exhibits commitment and passion toward, and role modeling service to others
  • Volunteers in the community outside of the requirements of the chapter
  • Impact of service to the community
  • Encourages service opportunities for their chapter
Emerging Leader 

This award will be given to a single individual of the fraternity and sorority life community, in middle membership (not a new or a soon to graduate member), who became an increasingly involved and contributing member of UCF’s Fraternity and Sorority Life community. Each chapter can nominate one (1)  person from their own chapter for this award. A winner will be selected from the following criteria:

  • Increased involvement within their chapter and/or council
  • Shows potential for greater leadership responsibilities through values-based action
  • Active and contributing member of the UCF Fraternity and Sorority Community
Fraternity and Sorority Life Alumni Advisor of the Year

This award recognizes a Fraternity or Sorority Alumni Advisor who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and overall support to their organization. Each sorority or fraternity may nominate one alumni advisor from their own chapter. One advisor will be selected from the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated commitment and support to their chapter
  • Positively influenced chapter through advising
  • Embodiment of their (inter)national organization’s values
Fraternity and Sorority Life Campus Leader of the Year 

This award is given to a chapter member who has the highest level of campus involvement and impact outside of their own chapter and council. The nominee should be an individual who has taken initiative to pursue leadership opportunities outside of their chapter and encouraged others to do so as well. 

A chapter may nominate up to two (2) people for this award, but only one person from within your chapter (if a second person is nominated they should be from a different fraternity/sorority on campus). 

One winner will be chosen based on the following criteria: 

  • Active and contributing member to the UCF campus community 
  • Maintains campus leadership positions while remaining a contributing member to their chapter
  • Encourages campus engagement opportunities for their chapter
Fraternity and Sorority Life Faculty & Staff Advisor of the Year 

This award recognizes a fraternity or sorority faculty or staff advisor who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and overall support to their organization. Each sorority or fraternity may nominate a faculty or staff advisor. One advisor will be selected from the following criteria: 

  • Demonstrated commitment and support to their chapter
  • Positively influenced chapter through advising
  • Embodiment of UCF’s values
Fraternity Member and Sorority Member of the Year 

This award is given to a chapter member who has, in the past year, consistently promoted unity between chapters, enhanced siblinghood within their own chapter, and improved their chapters’ external relations. Each sorority or fraternity may nominate one member of their own chapter. One fraternity and one sorority member will be selected based on the following criteria: 

  • Embodiment of Fraternity and Sorority Life and (inter)national organization values
  • Positively impacted siblinghood within chapter
  • Promoted council and community unity
  • Impact of actions to chapter, council, campus, and/or community
Graduate of the Year 

This award is given to a chapter member who has graduated in the spring, summer, or fall of 2023. Each sorority or fraternity may nominate one member of their own chapter or from another chapter. One fraternity and one sorority member will be selected on the following criteria:

  • Embodiment of their (inter)national organization’s values
  • Impact and contributions to chapter, council, campus, and/or community
  • Active and contributing member of the UCF Fraternity and Sorority Community
  • Model member to other members
New Member of the Year 

This award will be given to a new member in each council, in their first year, who became an active and contributing member of UCF’s Fraternity and Sorority Life community. Each chapter can nominate one (1)  person from their own chapter for this award. The nominee needs to have been a new member in either the spring or fall of 2023. A winner will be selected for each council based on the following criteria: 

  • Impact to chapter, council, campus, and/or community
  • Active and contributing member of the UCF Fraternity and Sorority Community
  • Model member to other new members
